IPM: IU-developed software covertly takes 3D images from smartphones

globe lockIndiana Public Media (IPM) reports on IU researchers who have developed software for Crane US Naval Surface Warfare Center that is capable of remotely recording from a smartphone, effectively spying without the user’s knowledge.

It takes pictures from the phone and sends the photos to a central server where they are stitched together to form a three-dimensional image.
