Director, Science Community Tools
Robert Henschel is director for Science Community Tools at Indiana University’s Pervasive Technology Institute (PTI) in the Research Technologies division. Henschel holds a master’s degree in computer science from Technische Universität Dresden, Germany, and has a strong background in high performance computing.
In his role, Henschel leads teams that provide user and application support for IU’s advanced cyberinfrastructure. He is responsible for the National Center for Genome Analysis Support (NCGAS) as well as IU’s Advanced Biomedical IT Core. Henschel also serves as the secretary of the Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation High Performance Group, and treasurer of the IBM/Lenovo Large Systems User Group.
